Halo 3 in Iraq

Someone on a Gamespot Forum posted that Bungie Software, the makers of the Halo series for Microsoft, recently sent 24 XBOX360 dev kits over to Iraq for the soldiers to beta test Halo 3.

I have conflicting opinions about this. On one hand, it's a nice gesture to send the troops anything. We all know they need all the support they can get. Halo 3 is one of the most anticipated titles of the new year.

Conversely, how appropriate is it to send a multiplayer shooting game to soldiers entrenched in a war zone to test? Are they asking if the killing mechanics are "life-like" enough? Will this be somehow tied into a viral marketing campaign ["Battle Tested and Approved by America's Fighting Forces!"]?

Weird.
